Anupam Kher, a grand set, a top TV channel and some veterans from Bollywood — kuch bhi nahin, bahut kuch ho sakta hai — with this deadly combination.
This as his ulterior motive, Anupam Kher is making a comeback to the silver screen. And this time, Kher believes he has a winner in his hands.
“I had a rough time with Savaal Dus Crore Ka back in 2000. But the demographics of the TV industry has changed rapidly. Now it is as big and in demand as Bollywood. It is heartening to see so much positive change in such a short period,” Kher tells you.
He was in the Capital promoting his latest chat show titled The Anupam Kher Show, Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai, on Colors and Kher was at his friendly best. “Tell me, where have you guys beenIJ Why have we not spoken more oftenIJ,” he says as he goes on to give you more snippets about his ‘much talked’ show on TV.
“For now, it’s 12 episodes. We may come up with seasons later. But for now, we are happy in just creating the curiosity. let’s see how the show is appreciated and then we will take it forward,” the actor-cum-producer, tells you.
The show will feature one or more celebrities talking about their hardships which they faced en route to becoming stars. The one-hour chat show will focus on lesser known facts about celebs and highlight their inspirational side. “Not everyone knows what kind of problems celebrities face to. How everyone faces roadblocks and manage to get past them is a story in itself. Through my show, the audience will get to see that side of their favourite star,” Kher tells you.
According to the show’s producers, the concept and anchor are the USP. It is not the usual hansi mazaak and scandalous revelations that will take centrestage. “The format is chat show but it will unfold like a story. That’s central to this show — the story behind the making of a celebrity,” Kher says, rubbishing rumours that his show is a take off on a Western concept. Being a passionate actor, Kher gets upset when people draw unnecessary comparisons with his show.
