IRC Village residents oppose land for hotel

PNS

A residents’ body has protested the e-auction of land by the BDA for construction of a hotel in IRC Village, citing various difficulties.

The N/5 Development Council of IRC village urged the civic authorities to refrain from the project and threatened to launch a priest stir.

The council stated that the plots where the hotel will be constructed are surrounded by many existing buildings, commercial and residential buildings on the south and west sides.  It said that the hotel will further make the area crowded.

According to the council members, the peripheral roads connecting to National Highway and other city amenities have already become very much crowded due to functioning of hotels, Kalyan Mandaps, shopping malls like Big Bazaar, Reliance Trends and even huge market complex like the Indradhanu Market.

They said that these commercial complexes have no provision of parking place of their own. Besides, the plots are located purely inside a large residential area.

Council president Er Dharma Prasad Mishra, vice president Sada Nand Sahoo, general secretary Ravindra Nath Mohanty and other executive body members appealed to the Government to stop the e-auction of development of hotel.
