The Big Bazar police on Thursday busted an Indian Premier league (IPl) betting racket and arrested three of five accused while they were betting near Gate Bazar here.
The arrestees were identified as Deepak Samantray (20), a B.Tech student of Sashtri Nagar, Jeetendra Nahala (31) of Konisi village and Andadipu.
The police seized cash of Rs 7, 61,000, three notebooks, a calculator and four mobile phones from their processions.
The accused were taking bets over phone and keeping an exhaustive record of their dealings in the notebooks, said the SDPO at a Press conference here.
The SDPO said the kingpin of the racket has been identified and efforts are being made to nab him soon. The other two accused, Prasant Behera and J Ramesh, who are still on run would be nabbed soon, added the SDPO.
