The Police Commissionerate on Tuesday introduced a unique internet system to check crimes against women in the city.
The facility, Instant Complaint logging Internet Kiosk (IClIK), is now available for 24X7 hours at the Bank of Baroda ATM near Sparsh Hospital in Saheed Nagar. This facility is the first of its kind in the whole country, said Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma.
Any woman can register her complaint through anyone of three different ways using this kiosk. A woman can lodge complaint in Odia, Hindi or English which she would find convenient and can also send voice message. Through the third method, a victim can scan his complaint and forward it to police using kiosk. Once the complaint gets registered, she would get a receipt of her complaint from the kiosk itself.
This system has been conceptualised and patented by Joydeep Nayak, IGP of Odisha.
DCP Nitinjeet Singh said the police would immediately respond to the complaint through the modern Police Control Room and the PCR Vans. “This women-friendly concept is aimed at making women feel safe in the city and enhance their convenient interface with the police,” Singh said.
The Odisha Computer Application Cetnre (OCAC) played a vital role in implementing the technology.
