As part of the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) of the Union Government, the 5th International Dam Safety Conference (IDSC)-2019 will be organised jointly by Water Resources Department, Central Water Commission (CWC) and the World Bank here from Wednesday.
Water Resources Director Lingaraj Gouda informed that the two-day programme would be attended by about 700 dam experts and engineers from India and abroad.
Earlier to this, four such conferences have been organised at different places in the country between 2015 and 2018. Deliberations in this conference are expected to help in upgrading the knowledge of dam engineers to face the emerging challenges on dam safety. Odisha has 10 major and 55 medium dam projects.
