The State Cabinet on Saturday decided to prescribe a minimum use of waste/intermediate/final products (50 per cent as base raw material) by an industrial unit to be eligible to be categorised as Downstream Industry for benefits under the Thrust Sector. Since industrial units providing direct employment to 100 persons with minimum capital investment of Rs10 crore and using any percentage of waste/intermediate/final products are being categorised under downstream industry as defined in IPR-2007 and claiming fiscal incentives under the Thrust Sector, there is, therefore, a need to prescribe a minimum use of waste/intermediate/final products (50 per cent as base raw material).
