Due to poor lack of security and accountability, industrial infrastructure materials including sheds are being looted on a regular basis from the Chhancha Industrial Estate near Convent School at Station Bazaar here.
Of the sheds built here, six to seven including bricks have recently been stolen by some unidentified miscreants. It is learnt that the theft is being occurred during night. The Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) is the owner-cum-custodian of these sheds, while the General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Baleswar is responsible for their day-to-day maintenance, sources said.
The approximate cost of the stolen sheds is Rs 1 crore. It is also said that the night patrol police are not looking into it. Further, locals said that accountability for this should be with GM, DIC, Mayurbhanj.
