In the students’ union elections in the Sri Krushna Chandra Gajapati (SKCG) Autonomous College here, independent candidates won posts of president and secretaries without any support of any political party.
It has been seen that political parties have vested interests in college elections, for which they spend lakhs of rupees, but the SKCG College has become an example in Odisha.
Radha Gobinda Panigrahi has been elected as president, Prasanta Gouda as general secretary, Santosh Jena vice-president, Monark Misal as dramatic secretary, Prasanta Kumar Swain as assistant secretary and Durga Prasad Swain as athletics secretary.
The college faculties and all the political party members congratulated the winners.
The newly-elected president said, “There are multiple problems in the college like need of faculty and security problems. I will raise voice for the students and for the interest of the college and, if needed, I will take to the street for the sake of the student problems.”
