Members across party lines on Thursday suggested to the Government to either reorganise Revenue Divisional Commission (RDC) regions or increase the number of RDC zones in order to enable the administration reach people at the grassroots level.
In response to a question of Congress member Tara Prasad Bahinipati and additional questions put by other members, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marndi said the Government would consider the suggestions even if it has no proposal to establish a special RDC at Jeypore and other places.
“RDCs had been reorganized on March 31, 1993 and then on December 30, 1993,” the Minster said.
Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra suggested that the number of RDCs be increased so that people’s problems can be resolved, “RDCs are not getting time to deal with land-related cases as the regions under them are very vast. People in backward regions are facing difficulties due to complex revenue laws. There should be at least six RDC zones for the 30 districts,” suggested Mishra.
BJD Member Pradeep Kumar Amat said people of Boudh are facing problems as they come under the Brahmapur RDC.
“Boudh is 230 km from Brahmapur and 100 km from Sambalpur. It should come under Sambalpur RDC zone,” said Amat.
Randhari and Gond also put various problems being faced by people of their constituencies due to distant RDC zones.
