In the wake of the Odisha Primary Education Primary Authority’s (OPEPA) fresh order to retrench the Inclusive Education Volunteers (IEVs), the All Odisha IEV Association (AOIEVA) has threatened to resort to agitation.
“On Monday, we will submit memorandums to the Chief Minister through all district Collectors. On August 22, we will hold a demonstration in front of the State Assembly demanding regularisation of our jobs,” said association president Pratap Chandra Swain.
The OPEPA on March 11, 2013, in letter number 1968-101 issued a notification regarding the retrenchment. Subsequently the IEVs moved to the High Court, which issued a stay order on the Government notification. But the authorities again on June 28, 2013, in letter number 4717, issued a notification for retrenchment, which amounts contempt of court, Swain said.
