In a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, chairman of the Smt Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) Suparno Satpathy has urged him to include Angul and Dhenkanal under the Centre-sponsored Smart City project.
In the letter, he has mentioned that geographically, both Angul and Dhenkanal fall in central Odisha and are headquarters to leading revenue generating districts of the State.
On behalf of all members and volunteers of the SNSMT and citizens of both the districts, Satpathy requested the President to support the cause of enlisting both the towns of the State for development as smart cities.
Copies of the letter have also been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Odisha Governor SC Jamir and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
