Batting for due respect to the legends and their contributions in building Odisha, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday suggested to the State Government to put the names of other illustrious personalities, including former Chief Minister Harekrushna Mahtab, in the Odisha Government website at the earliest.
The Union Minister made this suggestion while addressing a meeting held on the occasion of birth anniversary of Mahtab here on Saturday.
“While Odias do not hesitate to pay respects to its heroes, it is not understood that why the Odisha Government is yet to put figures of many other legendaries in its official website,” Pradhan wanted to know.
He opined that development of the State and its people would be possible only when we give due respect to the contributions of the strugglers who have laid their lives for protection and promotion of our art, culture, tradition and language.
He wanted that legendaries like Harekrushna Mahtab, Santhakabi Bhimabhoi, Veer Surendra Sai, Nilamani Routray, Nabakrushna Choudhury, Ramadevi, Dr Prana Krushna Parija, Dr Radhanath Rath, Gangadhar Meher, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Birsa Munda, Dharanidhar Bhyuan and living legends like Rabi Ray, Ramakanta Rath, Sitakanta Mohapatra and Pratibha Ray and many others needs to be respected by the State Government.
The Union Minister informed that the names of only eleven personalities which now found in Odisha Government website are Fakir Mohan Senapati, Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Nilakantha Das, Biswanath Das, Gajapati Krushnachandra Dev, Raja Artatrna Deo, Biju Patnaik, Chandrasekhar Behera, Nandini Satpathay and Kalandi Charan Panigrhi.
