In a deeply shocking incident, a man killed his 20-day-old son and threw the body into a drain in Nabarangpur district recently.
The accused Basudev Jani of Gaibandha village under the Jharigaon police limits has been arrested.
According to police, Jani, who has his wife and a three-year-old daughter, had developed an extramarital affair with a woman of the area. As the woman became pregnant with Jani’s baby, villagers decided that she would stay in his house.
The woman gave birth to Jani’s son on June 10. On June 29, Jani took the baby with him when the infant was sleeping near his mother and absconded. The woman searched for the baby but in vain. She lodged a police complaint. Police on Friday (July 3) nabbed Jani, who confessed to his crime.
