Champua ADJ Dolagobinda Batik has sentenced a person to undergo life imprisonment for killing his son. His first wife was also awarded a similar sentence.
The accused Narayanganj Mahanta, of Balabharapur under the Bamberg police station in Keonjhar district was engaged in iron ore trading. He has three wives.
Reportedly, he shared his profit with others except the decease Pitamber and his mother.
There were frequent quarrels in the family over money and in one such incident Narayanganj along his first wife Malati Mahanta and second wife’s son Glutamine Mahanta hit Pitamber on his head with a big stone. He died on the spot.
The Bamberg police had lodged a case into the incident and following investigation arrested the accused and forwarded them to court.
Hearing the testimony of 27 witnesses, the Champua ADJ Court awarded life imprisonment to the accused father and step-mother.
