Rs 10L fake Zarda seized by STF in Khordha
Khordha: The STF conducted raids at different places of Begunia and its periphery areas in Khordha district on Friday against illegal storage, manufacture and selling of fake Zarda products. In one such raid, a huge quantity of duplicate Zarda and tobacco materials were seized from the possession of one Manas Prusty of the Nuasani police station area. Similarly, a huge quantity of such duplicate product of Zarda and other tobacco products were recovered from the possession of one Manoj Kumar Sahu of the Pichukoli PS area. In both cases, duplicate Zarda items weighing about three quintals worth around Rs 10 lakh were seized.
Blanangir DM, SP take Covid vaccine
Balangir: District Collector Chanchal Rana and SP Nitin Kusalsar took Covishield, vaccine for Covid-19, in one of the centres opened at the Kalyan Mandap here on Saturday. “The vaccine is safe; and I would urge other people to take the vaccine without any hesitation,” said the Collector speaking to media.
Covid vaccination at PPT Hosp for frontline workers
Paradip: The first phase of vaccination against Covid-19 at Paradip and PPT Hospital for the frontline workers took place on Saturday. The session was inaugurated by PPT Deputy Chairman Asish Kumar Bose in the presence of ADM, Paradip, KC Dhir and officers and employees of PPT Medical Department. A total 100 PPT Hospital frontline workers got immunised. As per the Government guidelines, the healthcare workers had been immunised first on January 19. Notably, no adverse reaction of vaccine has been reported so far.
GMCA felicitates Covid warriors
Brahmapur: A cricket tournament was organised at Brahmapur Corporation Road by the Ganjam Muslim Cultural Association (GMCA). BeMC Commissioner Siddheswar Baliram Bonder, famous weightlifter K Ravi Kumar were the guests and gave away the prizes to the champion and he runners –up teams. Puri: A memorial meeting on the 2nd death anniversary of Sarala Award winner Ramakrishna Pratihari was held at the Annapurna Theatre here and glowing tribute were paid to him. Woman ends life consuming poison in Bhapur
Bhapur (Nayagarh): A woman committed suicide by consuming poison in Raghichelli village in Bhapur block under the Fathegarh police station in Nayagarh district following a domestic feud. The victim was identified as Julu Pradhan (21), the wife of Kalia Pradhan. After consuming poison, when she became critically ill , she was initially rushed to the Khandapad hospital and later to the Khordha District Headquarters Hospital when her condition worsened. Later, police conducted postmortem and handed over her body to her family members. Police have lodged an UD case and are probing the incident.
