The southwest Monsoon has covered 24 districts with rains lashing most parts of the State. The remaining districts would be covered in a couple of days, forecast the Regional Office of Indian Metrological Department (IMD) here on Tuesday.

“Rain is likely at most places over north coastal and many places over interior and coastal Odisha in next 24 hours. However, the amount of rainfall will be less over south interior parts of the State during these hours,” informed IMD Regional Director HR Biswas.

“But rainfall is expected to increase after 24 hours and would occur in most parts of the State. Heavy to very heavy rainfall rain is likely to lash at one or two places north and coastal Odisha,” said Biswas.

Meanwhile, coastal parts of the State including Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Puri and Ganjam have been receiving rainfall since the morning under the influence of the advancing monsoon.

Besides, the cyclonic circulation over Bihar, West Bengal and north-west Bay of Bengal is also making the condition favourable for the advancement of monsoon in the State.
