The Vigilance police on Wednesday arrested Binod Bihari Nayak, Inspector-in-charge of the Bangomunda police station in Balangir district following seizure of cash of Rs 5.88 lakh from his possession.Nayak was intercepted near the Bargarh tollgate by Vigilance officials while he was on his way from Bangomunda towards Kuchinda on a Maruti Ciaz car. During interception, Rs 2.07 lakh was recovered from Nayak, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Later, during search of his residence Rs. 3.88 lakh was recovered. Besides, seven bank accounts in different banks and seven LIC policies in the name of Nayak and his family members were freezed.
