Ahead of the panchayat polls, Southern Range IG of Police Amitabh Thakur reviewed the overall law and order situation, including Maoists’ movement, in five southern districts here on Friday.
The meeting held at the IG office conference hall was attended by Ganjam SP Ashis Singh, Kandhamal SP Pinaki Mishra, Gajapati SP Susil Panigrahi and Boudh SP Batula Gangadjhar. The IG sought to know from the SPs about Maoist situation and investigation status in various sensitive cases in their respective districts. Besides, he asked the SPs to make plans from now to make the forthcoming panchayat polls incident free. He specifically directed them to identify persons who are likely to create aggression during elections.
