Very shortly, the department would open the seven ICUs in the DHHs of Nuapada, Baleswar, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Bargarh and Angul.

The department would spend `1 crore for an ICU which has six beds. Each ICU would have three trained doctors, 10 nurses and paramedics. The DHHs of 20 districts would be equipped with ICUs by 2015-16, officials in the department said.

Recently, an integrated Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) complex was inaugurated in the Koraput DHH. The complex was set up under the National Programme for Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS).
