The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has put forth the idea to observe a day as International Corporate Governance Day by involving global investors, global stakeholders and regulatory bodies across the world so as to develop a uniform Corporate Governance Practices Code.
Organising a discussion here on Saturday, members of the ICSI opined that despite all governance norms, the corporate world is witnessing scams and scandals.
Joining as chief guest, Registrar of Companies Bibekananda Mohanty under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, West Bengal said, “To have an effective system of rules, practices and processes by which a corporate is directed and controlled, the world needs a platform to discuss and enumerate the possible methods and procedures for the adoption by corporate beyond the horizons of the respective countries. For attaining the International Corporate Governance Code (ICGC), we need to have a dedicated day for corporate governance which will be observed internationally.”
On the occasion, a stamp on the International Corporate Governance Day was released. Among others, Nalco ED and Company Secretary KN Ravindra and ICSI Bhubaneswar Chapter Chairman Ashok Kumar Mishra spoke.
