Hudhud effect minimal in Kendrapada dist

PNS

Hudhud had minimal effect in Kendrapada district. Only sea water ingress took place near Satabhaya village as about 3.5-metre-high tidal water got into the low laying areas. The sea had been rough since Saturday.

The 1,200-year-old Panchubarahi temple was inundated. The high tidal water had washed away a portion of the saline embankment near the temple. Nearly 200 acres of agriculture land were inundated with saline water, said Satabhaya sarapanch Nigam Rout.

A squally wind at a speed of 40-50 km per hour blew and its intensity was on the rise.

“Till Sunday evening, we evacuated at least 396 persons from Satabhaya and sheltered them at Okilapala cyclone shelter. But more than 2,000 people of Satabhaya panchayat were reluctant to get shifted,” informed district Collector Pramod Kumar Das.
