PNS

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation limited (Hudco) has sanctioned a loan of `415 crore for the proposed drinking water project to be undertaken in the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation area.

The loan bearing interest rate over 10 per cent awaits the State Government approval, official sources said. Commenting on the project, local MlA  RC Chyaupatnaik hoped that the Government would remain as a guarantor for implementation of the project, a longstanding demand of the city.

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had recently reviewed different projects, including drinking water scheme, of the city. He emphasised on timely completion of the projects. Moreover, he had laid foundation stone of the project on October 3, 2013.

According to the proposal of the project, water would be drawn from Janibili diversion wire through underground pipes and supplied the city. The drinking water problem would be resolved once this project comes into being.

The project would supply 200 MlD water. At present, the city collects 50 MlD from various sources like Dakhinapur reservoir and Rushikulya water supply system.
