The district administration on Monday demolished the house of notorious mining and drugs mafia Subhranshu Parida alias Chhota.
It is alleged that the house had been built illegally by encroaching Government land in Gurujang in the district.
A couple of days earlier, the administration had issued notice for demolition of the structure, which besides having many luxurious fittings had a swimming pool in its premises.
The administration engaged two JCB machines to reduce to rubble the 20-room building of Chhota in the presence of a magistrate and four platoons of police. The building’s estimated cost was around Rs 2 crore.
Chhota, who was a notorious brown sugar trader operating in Khordha, Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Puri and some other areas, surrendered before a local court last week.
He had allegedly hired several youths and provided them with motorbikes and illegal arms to promote his drug trade and illegal mining activities.
He also paid monthly remunerations to his gang members.
Of late, he was under the radar of the Crime Branch’s Special Task Force.
