Home Guards threaten dharna with families

PNS

The Rajya Gruharakhi Mahasangha has threatened that all 18,000 Gruharakshis (Home Guards) along with their family members would sit on a dharna in front of the State Assembly in the coming days if the State Government doesn’t increase their salary as per the Supreme Court direction.

“As per the SC direction, the State Government should pay wages to Home Guards equal to the amount being paid to Constables. Now, Constables are getting basic salary of Rs 21,000 as per the 7 th Pay Commission. But it is disappointing that the Government increased daily wage by Rs 60 to Rs 300 per day on the New Year,” said Mahasangha president Upendra Mohapatra.

Sangha legal advisor Jnanendra Kumar Tripathy said if the poor Home Guards would take to the streets and become expensive for the fault of the State Government, then the latter would pay Rs 5,000 per day to each agitating Home Guard.
