local NGO Vidya Sagar Educational Academy (VSEA) conducted an awareness camp on HIV and AIDS at Gaganpur near the BIlT Paper Mill here on the World Aids Day on Sunday. Chief guest Sub-Collector Birtendro Korkora said awareness is the only medium to control AIDS.
Korkora assured to take appropriate action for unloading of goods being transported by trucks to BIlT and Sewa Paper Mill here before sunset and discuss with the GM of the unit as Gaganapur has become a high risk area for transmission of HIV virus because of the inter-State truck drivers.
SDMO of the SD Hospital Dr Dadhi Baman Tripathy highlighted the measures taken by the Government for AIDS patients. Among others, local lEPRA India Society member Dr Bighnaraj Mohapatra, VSEA secretary Prabhat Kumar Brahma and local Integrated Counselling and Treatment Centre (ICTC) counsellor Manaswini Takri also spoke.
