Hit-and-run mishap a pre-planned murder

PNS

Police on Monday arrested the main accused in the hit-and-run incident at RTO Chowk in Balangir town in which a person died and two others were injured.

In the mishap, while a motorbike was badly damaged, it also injured a bullock and hit a truck coming from the opposite direction and damaged a Toyota Innova car parked on the roadside.

One Sanu Nayak along with Srikant Bag was coming towards the town by a motorcycle when a mini truck driven by one Chitta Mohanty hit their vehicle from the rear, resulting in death of Bag on the spot and injuring two others.

However on Sunday, CCTV footages went viral revealing that the incident was not a mere accident but done intentionally.

Earlier, injured Sanu’s father Rabindra had complained to police that Chitta had threatened to kill them over a land dispute.

The Balangir police nabbed Chitta from Theruvali while he was being shifted to Visakhapatnam for treatment.

After the CCTV evidence surfaced and other factors in the incident came to light, police have registered a case under Section 302 and 120(B) of IPC. Further investigation was on to nab the other culprits in the incident, which is nothing but a pre-planned murder, said Balangir SP Nitin Kulaskar.
