The local Meteorological department on Saturday predicted rains and thundershowers at a few places in Odisha and heavy rains at one or two places in coastal Odisha in the next 24 hours.
“Thursday’s low Pressure Area over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood lay over Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal at 0830 hours IST on Saturday,” a Met centre bulletin said.
Under its impact, gusty surface wind speed reaching 25 to 30 kmph with gusting to 40 kmph may prevail along and off the Odisha Coast, the bulletin said, advising fishermen to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
