The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Thursday forecast that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal, a fresh low pressure area was formed over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal West Bengal.
Rain and thunder shower will occur , while heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over north Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over south Odisha in next 48 hours, it said.
It warned that gusty surface wind may blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph in the interior parts while it may blow at 60 kmph along and off the coastal areas. Fishermen were advised not to venture into sea.
