Healthcare services at the Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital (FMMCH) and the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here were disrupted on Wednesday as nurses of both the institutions resorted to a cease-work agitation pressing for fulfillment of various demands.
The nurses staged a demonstration outside the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO)’s office and later submitted a memorandum to him. They lamented saying that though four days have passed since the attendants of a pregnant woman assaulted a nurse at FMMCH, no arrest has been made yet. Besides, some anti-socials are frequenting to the hospital under the patronage of a few influential persons. The protesters demanded appropriate actions against culprits and hooligans.
Meanwhile, the district Collector has asked the agitating nurses to call off their stir immediately or else action would be taken against them.
