City-based Mamata Charitable Trust inaugurated a “Health on Wheel” programme here on Saturday near the State Secretariat building.People can get medical treatment on wheel in this service, informed trust president Mamata Mohanty.
“This is the first time we have introduced this innovative programme to reach the poor for their treatment free of cost, said Mohanty. If we get support from the Government, this pioneering idea can be introduced at the international level, she added.
Around 300 people were present in the programme to check diabetes, blood pressure and weight free of cost.
Inaugurating the programme, BMC Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, MlAs Bijay Kumar Mohanty and Priyadarshi Mishra, Deputy Mayor K Shanti and Corporator Pranab Kishore Swain welcomed the idea of free treatment to the poor.
Surendra Sahoo presided over the meeting.
