The district administration put a block-level officer under suspension on Wednesday on the charge of dereliction in her duty and issued show-cause notices to 27 others on the same ground.
Sukanti Mishra, the headmistress of a school deputed for verification and correction of voter identity cards for Booth No. 7 under Remuna block. Her negligence came to light while Sub-Collector Nilu Mohapatra visited the centre and inspected the progress of the work.
On the similar ground, 27 others, including 25 teachers and two Angawndi Workers, were issued show-cause notices asking them to submit their replies within three days as to why disciplinary action shouldn’t be taken against them.
The verification for voter ID cards, which began on September 25, is scheduled for completion on November 18.
