Kendrapada district’s Arteswar Upper Primary School Headmistress-in-Charge Jayanti Panda was suspended and two cooks disengaged for negligence in duty that had led to food poisoning on the part of 37 students on November 16.
Directed by the district Collector, District Education officer (DEO) Sangram Sahu placed Panda under suspension and disengaged the two cooks, Basanti Panda and Sanjukta Das after an enquiry.
During the enquiry, it was revealed that due to negligence of the above staffs a caterpillar had been boiled in the midday meal (MDM) consuming which 37 students of Class I to VII got vomiting and stomach complications in the school located at Jaganathpur village in the district. Derabish BEO and DEO staffs had conducted an joint enquiry into the incident.
