Seeking to quash an order of the SCB Medical College and Hospital Superintendent restricting entry of mediapersons into the hospital campus, a miscellaneous case arising out of an earlier PIl was filed in the High Court on Tuesday.
Advocate Gadadhar Sahu, who had earlier approached the High Court terming the last week's doctors' strike in the hospital as "illegal" and sought the HC's intervention to impose provisions of the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) on striking doctors, has filed the miscellaneous case.
Sahu has alleged that the health services in the premier hospital of the State have been badly affected due to a complete breakdown of the administrative mechanism. "Acute ego clashes among professors and heads of the departments, unruly and unbecoming conduct of the medical students and lack of proper treatment in the Hospital have been the order of the day," Sahu said, adding that the current gag order on mediapersons is nothing but an attempt to hide the wrongs of the hospital from the public.
Urging the HC to intervene in this crucial public issue, the petition prayed that the court quash the Hospital Superintendent's order.
