Admitting a PIl that sought judicial intervention to bring the Shree Jagannath Temple at Puri under the purview of “no flying zone”, the Orissa High Court on Thursday issued notices to all the respondents in the petition — including the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Pradeep K Mohanty and Justice Biswajit Mohanty issued the notices asking the respondents to file their counters within two weeks and posted the matter to be heard again in the first week of May, informed the petitioner’s counsel Nishikant Mishra.
“The respondents, particularly the DGCA, have been asked to furnish in detail as to why the preventive measures should not be taken at the famous temple at Puri, which is vulnerable to terror threat,” Mishra said, adding that the DGCA has also been asked to show cause as to why the Grand Road (Badadanda) should not be declared as a “no flying zone” temporarily during the Rath Yatras.
