The Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to suspended BJD corporator of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Ranjita Biswal, who was arrested by police in March for her alleged links with gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamanta.
Justice JP Dash allowed Biswal to go on bail with a bond of Rs 20,000 each by two sureties. Among other conditions, she was asked not to intimidate or influence the witnesses and to cooperate with the investigating police officer as and when required.
Elected from Ward-7 in 2014, the journalist-turned-Corporator was questioned several times by the police soon after the gangster brothers were arrested in 2016.
