Haryana Government on Wednesday reinstated Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer Reagan Kumar, who was suspended in July following allegations of sexual harassment against him.
Reagan Kumar has been posted as Joint Director (Admn), Information, Public Relations & Languages and Deputy Secretary, Information, Public Relations & Languages Department, Haryana.
The HCS officer was suspended on July 26 after an inquiry panel indicted him of sexual harassing a 27-year-old woman employee of Utkarsh Society, under the Directorate of School Education in Panchkula near here.
A government’s committee had probed the allegations of sexual harassment against him.
The HCS officer was arrested on June 7 for allegedly molesting the woman employee in his office. He was released on bail on the same day.
On the complaint of the victim, the police had booked Reagan Kumar under Section 354 A (for physical touch) and 354 D (for stalking) of the Indian Penal Code.
The complainant had alleged that on May 28, the officer had called her to his cabin and offered coffee which she refused. The woman alleged that the officer on May 29 again called her to his cabin and tried to sexually abuse her.
Following the complaint, the State Government had withdrawn work of Utkarsh Society from Reagan Kumar and forwarded the case to the internal complaints committee of the Department. He was later suspended by the State Government.
