Haridaspur bridge turns a deathtrap

PNS

The Haridaspur bridge that connects Sundarpada and Rudrapur has remained damaged with its wall having collapsed after Cyclone Fani, causing distress to villagers and students of Jaipur, Pahala and Rudrapur.

Locals pointed out that the canal water has dried up. If somebody falls from the bridge, he or she might lose his or her life; and for that, the officials of the Water Resources Department would be responsible.

They also said it’s a matter of concern that the Water Resource Department has turned a blind eye to the urgent need of reconstruction of the bridge through which hundreds of people and domestic animals are commuting every day.

The locals have also brought the matter to the notice of the department officials and Bhubaneswar North MLA Sukant Rout for action.
