The Special CBI Court on Thursday rejected interim bail plea of Mayurbhanj BJD MP Ramchandra Hansdah seeking permission to attend the upcoming lok Sabha session. The court had reserved its order after hearing the bail plea on Monday. It had prepared to announce its verdict on Tuesday, but later it shifted the date to Thursday.
Hansdah’s counsel Rabindra Nath Patsani had urged the court on Monday to grant an interim bail to the MP to attend the Parliament session citing that he may lose his seat if he fails to attend the session.
After the order, Hansdah’s candidature for lok Sabha is at a stake. As per rules, an MP should not remain absent for a period of 60 days without permission in the House. Notably, Hansdah was arrested by the CBI on November 4 last year for his link with the Nabadiganta Capital Services Pvt limited.
In another judgment, the District and Sessions Judge Court here rejected the bail plea of Seashore middleman and real estate broker Subhankar Nayak, who was arrested by the CBI on November 18 last year for his alleged link with chit fund firm Seashore Group. The court rejected the bail plea after hearing the arguments of Nayak’s counsel and CBI senior counsel Kali Charan Mishra.
Notably, the CBI during interrogation had found several important leads and secret information about the link of bigwigs with the chit fund scam. Nayak’s dealing with senior bureaucrats, police officials, politicians and other influential persons were found from his personal diary seized by CBI during raid on his house at Chandrama Apartment in the city on November 18.
Based on the diary’s secret information, the CBI had earlier interrogated two senior IPS officers, west-central range DIG Rajesh Kumar and Kendarpara SP Satish Gajbhiye.
