Responding to the demand of Baleswar MP Rabindra Kumar Jena for running a Gujarat-bound train through Baleswar, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has informed him that his Ministry is considering and has referred it to the concerned directorate.
Goyal has stated that the Ministry is considering to run a train between Puri and Bhuj via Cuttack, Baleswar and Kharagpur. Notably, Jena has written several letters to the Railway Ministry to launch a west-bound train so that residents of Baleswar would find a direct train for Maharashtra and Gujarat.
“Hundreds of people of Baleswar and its adjacent areas travel to prominent cities of Maharashtra and Gujarat in connection with their businesses, better job opportunities, healthcare and other reasons. But there is hardly a direct train from the district to these places.
The new train would mitigate difficulties to a larger extent,” said Jena.
