A block-level grievance meeting regarding the execution of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) was held at the Joda block office on Friday.
When Joda BDO Ghasiram Murmu sought the reason for the poor achievement of the MGNREGS and other Government schemes like IAY, Biju Paka Ghara Yoyana, Orissa livelihood Mission, Sarapanchs and PRIs present in the meeting told that Joda being a mining and hilly area, logistic and material cost is very high.
Besides, Deojhar gram panchayat Sarapanch Tirshi Munda said that Tata Sponge, which was built by acquiring land from Adivasi people at very low price, is not only polluting the environment but also selling ash-fly bricks at high prices. She alleged “The price has been revised to charge more from people. The matter was brought before Tata Sponge Peripheral Development Officer in-Charge Trilochan Palei but in vain”.
Similarly, Palasa gram panchayat Sarapanch Basu said at least 50 Adivasi people of the gram panchayat are deprived of the Indira Awas Yoyana (IAY) benefits as the Record of Right (ROR) is not in their names and the area in which they are living comes under mining lease. He demanded provision of land pattas to those people.
later, the BDO sought cooperation from all concerned officials for a survey of Intensive Participatory Planning Exercises-2 for proper implementation of the MGNRGS in the coming year.
