Police on Tuesday arrested a Gram Rakshi working under the jurisdiction of the Kashipur police station in Gajapati district for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of marrying her.
The arrestee was identified as Govind luhakabat.
Sources said luhakabat had a relationship with the girl for three years.
Some months back assuring her to marry, luhakabat had a physical relationship with her and made her five months pregnant.
later, the girl’s parents had asked luhakabat to marry her, but as he refused the proposal, they lodged a complaint in the Kashipur police station.
Acting on the complaint, the police tracked luhakabat and found him in Malkangiri and arrested him and forwarded him to court, which sent him to judicial custody.
