PNS

In the wake of Nagabali-Basadhara Maoist outfit’s call to observe the Republic Day as a black day, the Gajapati police have intensified combing operations in Maoist-afflicted areas and sealed all entry points of the district.

The police have made strict security arrangements to thwart all possible untoward incidents that may happen during Maoists’ black day observance. CRPF, DBF, SOG and OSAP forces have also been engaged in the combing operations. Besides, a strong surveillance has been kept on vehicles commuting on roads.

“A three-tier security arrangement has been made by the police. An Additional SP, five DSPs, five inspectors, 40 SIs and 10 platoons of police forces have been deployed for security,” said Gajapati SP Pradeep Kumar Mishra.

The district administration sounded a high alert after Maoists released an audio tape to observe the January 26 as a black day, which coincides with Intelligence inputs of possible terrorist attack in the State.
