The State Government has warned the High-Tech Medical College authorities of stringent action if they violate Government rules by demanding excess fees from students during their admission.
An official letter also stated that the Government may cancel the NOC (No-objection certificate) issued to the college if any such instance comes to its notice.
The Government’s move came a day after the Parents’ Association met Health Department officials seeking their immediate intervention in the admission row at
Hi-Tech Medical College as the students were asked to pay almost double the amount fixed by the Government as admission fee.
“Allegations have been received from various quarters including parents regarding non-admission and non-acceptance of the reporting of the students, who have already taken admission through OJEE, by your institution,” a letter addressed to the college Principal by the Health and Family Welfare Department said.
“It is further alleged that the institution is insisting on undertaking/bonds from the students/parents regarding the increase of fee structure,” the letter stated.
The college shall abide by the fee structure as decided by the Government. “Any violation of the above will be treated as disobedience of Govt. orders; and if proved, this department will be compelled to withdraw the NOC/Essentiality Certificate issued to the institution,” the letter added.
Notably, while the Government has finalised the course fee at \Rs 6.5 lakh, the college reportedly demanded Rs 11 lakh after the students took admission.
Following this, the parents of the students knocked at the door of Health
Minister.
