The State Government would soon sanction funds for construction a 123-km long road from Dhenkanal to Keonjhar via Kamakshyanagar, Kaliahata, Nudurpada and Harichandanpur, said sources.

Former MlA and Odisha Krushak Mahasanga president Bibhudenra Pratap Das said he had been demanding construction of the road since long as the road would open a route from mining areas of the State to Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Calcutta. The road would also lessen the distance by 100 kilo metres from Dhenkanal to these areas.

“Mmany unreached tribal areas in Dhenkanal and Keonjhar districts would get communication facilities. The road would definitely improve socio-economic condition of the tribal people. Forest products and minerals which are abundantly available in the above areas can be economically transported to other places through the road,” Das said.

The proposed road which would connect NH 42 at Dhenkanal with NH 6 at Keonjhar would connect two subdivisions, Kamakshyangar and Kaliahata. Das also informed that the Works Secretary has assured that the Government would soon invite tenders for renovation of the Aluajharan-Bhaluamunda Raod vial Saanda. The road has been damaged since long and many accidents are happening now, sources said.
