The BJP on Thursday alleged that the State Government is playing with 25 lakh power consumers by relaxing bidding norms to hand over power distribution responsibility to an ‘inexperienced’ company of the country.
“While there are many experienced companies like Reliance, Adani, Toretong, CESC etc, the Cesu authorities have decided to hand over power distribution to the inexperienced India Power Company. In this, a conspiracy of a deal of Rs 1,000 crore has been hatched”, alleged BJP State secretary Dr Lekhashree Samantsinghar at a Press meet here.
Samantsinghar said the State Government has floated a consortium bidding to hand over the work to the Indian Power Company, which has no experience in supplying power to 1,000 households. Under this bid process, a company can leave the job without accountability, she said.
“It was a norm that companies having experience of supplying power to 40 per cent people of a State would be given power distribution franchise. Astonishingly, the State Government has relaxed this norm for the present distribution tender,” said Samantsingha.
She also wanted to know why the State Government has not made it public whether 100 per cent or 51 per cent of Cesu would be sold out. She said 25 lakh power consumers would be affected by the State Government’s ‘wrongful’ action.
