Functioning of the State Government offices and the judiciary remained paralysed in several parts of western Odisha for the third consecutive day on Wednesday because of the lawyers’ agitation demanding a permanent High Court Bench in the region.
The Government offices, including those of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner and district Collector remained closed in Sambalpur. The lawyers also closed the municipality office. The filing of nomination papers for the urban local body elections in Sambalpur district could not take place for the third consecutive day because of the lawyers’ agitation. Similar situation prevailed in Deogarh, Jharsuguda and Bargarh districts too as all the State Government offices were closed there.
