The tenure of Asit Kumar Tripathy as the State’s Chief Secretary will end on December 31.The Government has approved his retirement. A notification in this regard was issued by the General Administration Department on Wednesday.
The 1986-batch IAS officer Tripathy had been appointed as the Chief Secretary with effect from August 19, 2019 replacing Aditya Prasad Padhi.Prior to his appointment to the post, Tripathy was serving as the Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary in Home Department with additional charge as the Chief Administrator of the Koraput-Balangir-Kalahandi (KBK) region. He is a native of Balangir district.Now, senior IAS officers Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra are the frontrunners for the Chief Secretary’s post, said sources.
