The State Government on Wednesday directed the concerned departments to remove the roadblocks on setting up of various industrial projects, including several mega steel projects.

At a review meeting, Chief Secretary GC Pati directed the departments to expedite the process of pending issues like land acquisition and grant of various clearances.

The meeting was a follow-up on the decisions taken at the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) meeting of the Union Cabinet Committee on Infrastructural (CCI) Projects, which was chaired by Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat Anil Swarup on September 5 this year, said official sources.

The Chief Secretary directed the Steel and Mines Department to coordinate with the Idco and Posco India to resolve the issue of land transfer to the South Korean company for its mega steel project.

It may be noted that Posco is yet to pay Rs54.22 crore towards the lease value of 2,193.52 acres of land. As a result, the proposal for transfer of the balance land of 1,048.52 acre to the company has lapsed.

Besides, the meeting also discussed other projects, including power, railway and road projects. Issues relating to forest diversion, forest clearance, environmental clearance, permissive possession, possession of acquired land, tree cutting, material linkage and power supply were also discussed at the meeting.
