In a bid to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water in the torrid summer, the State Government on Wednesday issued helpline numbers for both rural and urban areas.
Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Pratap Jena said people in urban areas can dial toll-free number 18003456783 to inform about any issue related to drinking water. The toll-free number for rural area is 1916. The Government would supply drinking water in large tankers to the areas that lack drinking water facilities.
Control Rooms have been opened at engineer and Junior Engineer offices, division offices and sub-division offices across districts to receive complaints regarding drinking water. If required, tube wells would be installed in rural areas following proposal of the concerned district Collector.
Besides, the concerned officials have been directed to start renovation of all defunct tube wells in rural and urban areas on war-footing basis, the Minister added.
