A group of anti-socials on Tuesday night attacked power engineers and officers, who have been staging a Satyagraha in front the Gridco office here since Monday pressing for fulfilment of their demands. All Odisha Power Engineers’ Federation secretary general Brahmakumar Paital protesting the assault said that even if the Satyagraha has reached its third day, there is neither any effort from the authorities to solve the issues nor any bilateral discussion is taking place.
And in a sudden turn of event, the goons wearing black clothes in their faces ransacked the Satyagraha site, attacked a member, damaged motorcycles and snatched mobile phones, he said. He said the miscreants also threatened them to stop the Satyagraha forthwith and warned of dire consequences if it is not done. It appears that the attack was a sponsored one, Paital added. An FIR was lodged in the Saheed Nagar police station on Tuesday night. The federation demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and stringent action against them.
